Preservation Lomice
Mission: To preserve the community history of Lomice
Location: rural Walsh County
St. Catherine's Catholic Church of Lomice was named after the town of Lomice, Czechoslovakia, and was built in 1934-1936. The stone was gathered locally and built with the blueprints of the pastor; he wanted an attractive church built of stone like those in the old country so that they might remember the fatherland. Slated for closure and demolition, local supporters approached PND and organized Preservation Lomice under PND's Local Affiliate Program. St. Catherine's is used for an annual service and special events and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
