History of the Award
"The Bentley Award was created by the Board of Directors of Preservation North Dakota in 2001. The award was named after Dale Bentley, its Executive Director. Bentley first joined the board in 1999. During that year, he was elected Vice President, and ended the year fulfilling the role of President. He was elected President of the organization in 2000, and was hired as our first Executive Director in 2001. The board created this award to recognize his dedication, leadership, volunteerism, and passion for historic preservation in North Dakota." - President, Barbara Lang in her Annual Award's Speech of November 2001.
