Building a Better Future with Our Historic
Places!
Welcome
Thank you for joining us at PND's 16th Annual Conference: Building a Better
Future with Our Historic Places! We offer three expanded tours, thirteen
educational sessions, and the opportunity to explore exciting options forward
in historic preservation using better building and planning practices.
Featured segments include historic preservation and green building philosophy
and techniques, Native American perspectives on the past and future
built environment in North Dakota, our historic bridges, and problems
and solutions in repairing stone edifices. We are partnering with some fantastic
organizations, including Buckstop
Junction in Bismarck as our conference
site and our speaker on moving historic
buildings, Knife River Indian Village National Historic
Site near Stanton, ND for insights into Mandan, Hidatsa
and Arikara culture and traditional built environments, AIA
North Dakota regarding historic buildings and green building philosophy, Manitoba's
Historic Resources Branch of Cultural, Heritage, Tourism and Sports
on stone building history and repair, and the State Historical Society
of North Dakota's North
Dakota Heritage Center for a Sunday presentation on the surprising energy
savings of rebuilding and reusing historic windows. Join us Thursday
evening April 30th at 6:30 pm for a reception at the Former
Governor's Mansion located at 320 East Avenue B, Bismarck.
